Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah Gets Hailed for Congratulating Kenya Players after International Match

Known as a polite and humble person, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah had visited the Kenya players’ locker-room after the International match between Egypt and Kenya, which ended in a draw. The winger was recorded on video visiting the opposition’s locker-room and congratulating them on the performance and wished them luck after failing to reach the African Cup of Nations group stage qualifier. Salah was filmed giving a small speech and was later applauded by the Kenya players and Kenya Football Federation president, Nick Mwendrwa.

The winger also gave his shirt to Kenya mid-fielder Kenneth Muguna. The draw between the two nations saw Egypt qualify for the African Cup of Nations, which is scheduled to be played next year in January2022. Egypt is next scheduled to play Comoros on March 29 to decide the topper of Group G.

Fans hailed the ‘Egyptian King’ for his humble behaviour and congratulating the Kenya players on putting on a solid performance in the clash between the two nations.

The AFCON tournament was supposed to be held this summer in Cameroon, however, due to the hot weather, the Confederation of African Football have now scheduled the tournament to be held in January next year. However, with the tournament being held in January, many Africa football players will have to miss the league clashes.

For Liverpool especially, the English club will have to do without Salah, Senegal’s Sadio Mane and Guinea’s Naby Keita. This could be a major set-back for Jurgen Klopp, who has been highly reliable on the two wingers for winnings games and scoring goals for the English side.

In the clash between Kenya and Egypt, the match ended in a draw, however, the statistics of the match speak an entire different scenario. Kenya had 16 shots with five on target, whereas Egypt had only 3 shots, with one on target and the sole one finding the back of the net.

Egypt’s Mohamd Kafsha had given the Pharaohs an early lead by scoring a banger in the second minute of the clash, but Kenya put on the pressure and did so successfully by leveling scores in the 65th minute as Hassan Abdallah scored. Kenya’s chances drew slim after midfielder Johnstone Omurwa was shown a direct red for an irrational challenge, leaving Kenya to 10-men.

The draw saw Kenya sit third in Group G with four points and Egypt with nine points and on top of the table ahead of Comoros, who also have nine points. The Pharaohs are ahead on goal difference.

All eyes will once again be on Egypt’s Salah who is currently jointly on top in the race for the Golden Boot in the Premier League as the winger has scored 17 goals along with Tottenham Hotspurs’ Harry Kane. Liverpool is currently seventh on the Premier League table and are having a dreadful season so far and could see rivals Manchester City reclaim the league as they are leading by 14 points at the top of the table.
