Eight injured by falling tree branch that crushed picnic
The family had been relaxing at Broadwater Tourist Park, Southport, on the Gold Coast, when the tree snapped at its base, falling on the picnic-goers and their table.
A 44-year-old woman was struck in the head, with seven more people requiring the assistance of paramedics.
“Eight people were affected, one main patient who was a 44-year-old female,” Adam Flory from Queensland Ambulance Service.
“She’s taken the full force of the branch and she’s been treated and transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.”
The family said they saw no reason for the tree to suddenly collapse.
