India on Tuesday reported a net reduction of 12,766 to bring its count of active coronavirus cases down to 339,820, the lowest level since July 16. With a continuous trend of daily reductions, India’s share of global active coronavirus cases is down at 1.68 per cent (one in 60). The country added 22,065. The lowest in a day since July 3, to take its total caseload to 9,906,165. And with 354 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 143,709, or 1.45 per cent of total confirmed infections.
The count of recovered coronavirus cases across India now stands at 9,422,636 – or 95.12 per cent of total caseload – with 34,477 new cured cases being reported on Tuesday.
With a daily increase of 22,065 in total cases, India’s tally of coronavirus cases has risen from 9,884,100 on Sunday to 9,906,165 – an increase of 0.2%. Death toll has reached 143,709, with 354 fatalities in a day. The eighth-most-affected country by active cases, third by fatality, and second by total and recovered cases, India has added 202,395 cases in the past 7 days.
India now accounts for 1.68% of all active cases globally (one in every 60 active cases), and 8.83% of all deaths (one in every 11 deaths).
Backwards from here, the last 1 million cases for India have come in 27 days.
The count of active cases across India has seen a net decline of 12766, compared with 3960 on Monday. The states that have reported the highest increase in active cases are Meghalaya (23), Assam (20), Jharkhand (10), A&N Islands (8), and D&NH-D&D (2).
With 34,477 new daily recoveries, India’s recovery rate has improved to 95.12%; the fatality rate remains unchanged at 1.45%.
The Indian states and UTs with the worst case fatality rates at present are Punjab (3.17%), Maharashtra (2.56%), and Gujarat (2.21%). The rate in as many as 13 is higher than the national average.
India’s new daily closed cases stand at 34,831 — 354 deaths and 34,477 recoveries. The share of deaths in total closed cases stands at 1.02%.
India’s 5-day moving average of daily rate of addition to total cases stands at 0.3%.
India’s doubling time for total cases stands at 310.8 days, and for deaths at 281.0 days.
Overall, five states with the biggest 24-hour jump in total cases are Maharashtra (2949), Kerala (2707), West Bengal (1834), Chhattisgarh (1615), Delhi (1376).
Among states with more than 25,000 cases, the five with worst recovery rates at present are Himachal Pradesh (84.38%), Manipur (90.92%), Uttarakhand (90.96%), Kerala (91.01%), and Chhattisgarh (91.48%).
India on Monday conducted 993,665 coronavirus tests, taking the total count of tests conducted so far in the country to 155,560,655. The test positivity rate recorded was 2.2%.
Five states with the highest test positivity rate (TPR) – percentage of tested people turning out to be positive for Covid-19 infection (by cumulative data for tests and cases) – are Maharashtra (16.03%), Goa (13.29%), Chandigarh (11.57%), Nagaland (10.0%), and Kerala (9.6%).
Five states with the highest TPR by daily numbers for tests and cases added – are Rajasthan (8.95%), Kerala (8.49%), Goa (7.36%), Maharashtra (6.42%), and Chandigarh (6.28%).
Among states and UTs with more than 10 million population, five that have carried out the highest number of tests (per million population) are Delhi (367763), J&K (254972), Andhra Pradesh (208267), Kerala (199284), and Karnataka (188763).
The five most affected states by total cases are Maharashtra (1883365), Karnataka (902240), Andhra Pradesh (875836), Tamil Nadu (800029), and Kerala (672037).
Maharashtra, the most affected state overall, has reported a net addition of 2,949 cases. The state has added 40,778 cases in the past 10 days.
Karnataka, the second-most-affected state, has reported 830 cases to take its tally to 902,240.
Andhra Pradesh, the third-most-affected state by total cases, added 305 cases to take its tally to 875,836.
Kerala has added 2,707 cases to take its tally to 672,037.
Tamil Nadu has seen its tally going up by 1,141 to 800,029.
Uttar Pradesh has added 1,172 cases to take its tally to 566,728.
Delhi has added 1,376 cases to take its tally to 608,830.
