Senior health officials said while the Manipal campus could be the biggest cluster in the state, measures are in place to contain the spread. Most of the students have been tested and since pupils could have visited hotels and restaurants nearby, the administration is considering subjecting workers in these commercial establishments to tests.
Meanwhile, primary health centres in Udupi have been asked to monitor influenza-like-illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infection (SARI) cases. The administration is also working on ramping up tests. PHC staff have been asked to test vulnerable sections on priority.
The district reported a total of 210 cases, of which, 199 are from Udupi, nine from Kundapur and two from Karkala. Nearly 208 patients are in home isolation. Of the total cases, 173 patients including 134 male are asymptomatic.
