The FX-Z is based on FZ150 and is powered by a 149-cc engine. The 2-valve Blue Core FI Engine generates 12.4PS of peak power at 7,250 rpm and 13.3Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. The exhaust note too is extensively tuned to produce a powerful sound.
In terms of design, the Neo-retro-themed motorcycle packs circular LED lights with DRLs, sleek LED tail lamp, block pattern tyre and front fork boots.
Yamaha FX-Z will be available in three colour choices. The FX-Z also offers Bluetooth connectivity-based fixtures. The variant with connected features will ask for Rs 3,000 premium over the base model.
In terms of riding posture, Yamaha says FX-Z will offer an upright handle position and tuck and roll perch.
Tohru Ohara, project leader of FZ-X, said, “FX-Z is specially developed for India. We had the goal to bring out the Neo-retro design. We used the FZ150 engine here.”
The Bluetooth-enabled variant receives a Communication Control Unit (1st in India for Yamaha bikes), which is compatible with Yamaha’s dedicated Y-Connect app. Through this, the rider can check smartphone notifications via the instrument cluster icons, look at maintenance recommendations, track the bike’s last parking location, track fuel consumption, receive malfunction notification, along with a unique feature – The Revs Dashboard, which displays data such as engine rpm, degree of throttle opening, rate of acceleration, an eco-friendly riding indicator, etc on your smartphone.
The new FZ-X also showcases a minimum ground clearance of 165 mm and weighs 139 kg (with oil and a full fuel tank). On the convenience front, Yamaha has also offered a side stand with engine cut-off switch, a lower engine protector guard and for safety a Bosch single-channel ABS with block pattern dual-purpose 100/80-17 (Front) and 140/60-17 (Rear) tubeless tyres to ensure maximum grip over every terrain.
Yamaha is also offering 200 units of Casio G-Shock watches for the initial set of customers free of cost.
Yamaha also unveiled the updated Ray-ZR and Fascino with smart hybrid motor. The prices will be revealed shortly.
