UNP unanimously agrees to send Ranil to parliament!

UNP General Secretary – Palitha Range Bandara says that the party has decided to appoint leader – Ranil Wickremesinghe as the National List Member of Parliament, since he is the only person with extensive knowledge of law, democracy and parliamentary tradition.

The decision was unanimously approved by the UNP Working Committee, he adds.

However, Mr. Wickremesinghe is yet to express his assent, he further notes..

Noting that the Opposition’s recent work in support of MP Harin Fernando’s right to speech was not quite successful, Mr. Range Bandara says that a hard battle would be fought if Mr. Wickremesinghe was present.
