After the Supreme Court refused to give protection to actors and makers of the web series Tandav, several celebs reacted on social media. Konkona Sensharma reacted strongly and her tweet went viral on social media.
Actress Konkona Sensharma took to her Twitter handle to voice her opinion about the recent Supreme Court verdict of Tandav in a sarcastic manner. SC”s decision to decline interim protection from any coercive action to the actors and producers of the web series evoked reactions from many celebrities. But, it was only Konkona’s response that ended up getting attention from netizens. The SC had observed freedom of speech isn’t absolute during its hearing on pleas regarding the stay on FIRs against makers of Tandav. Konkona reacted to the same in a tweet.
Shortly after it dropped on Amazon Prime, the series drew government criticism for apparently provoking communal disharmony and hurting Hindu sentiments. While other celebrities have mixed opinions on the show, Konkona made her stand clear with a tweet over the SC verdict in the case. Konkona retweeted the interaction between the SC justice and lawyer and made a sarcastic comment over the Tandav row. The actress sarcastically questioned about arresting the whole cast and crew of Tandav after reading the SC verdict on the case.
It started when advocate Siddharth Agarwal remarked that the statements of the characters cannot be attributed to the actor. To which the bench responded: “You cannot take up a role without reading the script. You cannot play a role hurting religious sentiments of others”. To this, Konkona skillfully reacted, “Almost all involved in the show have read the script and signed the contract! Let’s arrest the whole cast and crew?” Her use of sarcasm to her power, speaks volume about the verdict itself.
