MOCD: National Happiness and Wellbeing Survey

The Ministry of Community Development launched the National Happiness and Wellbeing Survey in February 2020 with the aim to raise the wellbeing of individuals in various sectors.

Her Excellency HessaBintEssaBuhumaid, Minister of Community Development and Chairman of Wellbeing Council, confirmed that the national wellbeing survey was aimed at measuring the wellbeing standards of the UAE community in seven vital sectors namely, community, healthcare, education, economy, security justice and safety, infrastructure housing and environment and human resources.

Over 10,000 people took part in the survey with the age demographic starting at ages 15 and over. Of those taking part, 66.4 per cent were UAE nationals and 33.6 per cent were residents of different nationalities, with three main themes ranging from developed countries, interdependent society and individual wellbeing.

The results showed that 93% of the UAE’s population, including citizens and residents, confirmed that they are proud to live in the UAE. In addition 82% of individuals expressed satisfaction with government services, and 8 out of 10 people believe they are living a meaningful life, 88% said that they have good communication skills and 84% of the country’s population is optimistic.

With regards to safety, 92% said they feel safe walking alone at night and 84% indicated that they are comfortable with their family relationships.
