For those of you wondering about the functionality of the domestic stock market on the the day of Holi, the equity market will be closed on Monday, March 29 on account of the festival.
The domestic stock market will witness an extended weekend and both Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) will remain shut on March 29. Not just that, both currency and bond markets will also remain closed on Holi.
Commodity exchanges, however, will be open for second half a day and will be closed during the first half. Trading will recommence from the 5:00 pm to 11:30 pm on Monday (March 29).
On account of Good Friday (April 2), Dalal street professionals will also get an extended weekend. The financial and money market will also observe a holiday on April 2. With both Monday (April 29) and Friday (April 2) off, Dalal Street will function for only three days.
The strong close for US stocks would influence Asian and European markets on Monday. But since the Indian market will be shut for the day, it would react to the global developments only on Tuesday, reported Economic times.
“Next week would be a truncated one for Indian marketsdue to a couple of bank holidays, hence the traders would watch the global cues closely and have positions accordingly. Given the likelihood of high volatility continuing in the market for some time, investors would do well by staying calm and gradually accumulating good quality companies on declines in the market,” Siddhartha Khemka, Head of Retail Research at Motilal Oswal Financial Service was quoted as saying by ET.
As per the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Holiday list 2021, the market will observe holidays on 14 days this year. With Republic Day and Mahashivratri over, the remaining Holidays are as follows:March 29, 2021- Holi
