Hemanth, husband of TV actress Chitra, who died by suicide, gets arrested – Times of India

Hemanth, the husband of late TV actress Chitra was arrested by the Nazarathpettai police on Monday night. According to reports, a case was filed against Hemanth under section 306, abetment to suicide. He was produced before the magistrate of the Poonamallee court and lodged in the Ponneri jail.

Chitra died by suicide on December 9 in a private hotel near EVP film city, Chennai. Following this, the police filed a case and were conducting an investigation over the past few days.

The investigation was held from various angles with Chithra’s husband Hemanth, the hotel staff, Chithra’s family members, Chithra’s co-stars, friends and others.

Police have been investigating Hemanth over the past 6 days continuously as Hemanth was staying with Chitra during the last few days before her death.

On the day of suicide, Hemanth had visited the sets of Chitra’s shoot. Reports suggest that Hemanth had some differences with Chitra and they had a quarrel. Besides other issues, they had differences over a few intimate scenes in the shooting of the ongoing shows also.

Chithra’s parents alleged possible foul play from Hemanth’s side and demanded strict action against him.

According to the autopsy report there were indications of death by suicide.

A RDO (revenue divisional officer) headed investigation is conducted as Chitra died within a few months of marriage. The officer held an investigation with the family members of Chitra, including her mother, father, sister and others.

Chitra and Hemanth’s engagement was held in August and they both had a registered marriage in October. Their formal marriage was scheduled for February 2021.
