Due to spattered small new outbreaks of COVID-19 that happened in the past couple of winter months, analysts say that film companies in China will likely miss their 2021 Spring Festival box office goals. According to the investment bank China International Capital Corporation Limited (CICC), the predicted box office during the 2021 Chinese New Year may reach 6.425 billion yuan ($992 million). Media reports on Monday suggested that some institutes had raised their estimate to 7 billion yuan. However, some more pessimistic estimates believe that it would only reach 4.5 billion yuan.
