Aditya Chopra’s ‘Mohabbatein’ completes 20 glorious years today. The film marked the big Bollywood debut of six newcomers namely Uday Chopra, Shamita Shetty, Kim Sharma, Jugal Hansraj, Jimmy Shergill, and Preeti Jhangiani. However, did you know that even Karisma Kapoor and Kajol were approached to be part of the film?

Yes, you read it right! According to reports, Shamita Shetty and Kim Sharma’s roles were earlier offered to Karisma Kapoor and Kajol. However, they refused to be part of it for reasons best known to them. Shamita was paired opposite Uday Chopra while Kim Sharma was paired opposite Jugal Hansraj.

Uday Chopra actually wanted Rinke Khanna opposite him in the movie. However, Aditya Chopra insisted a newcomer be launched opposite him.

Not only this, even Sridevi was supposed to play Amitabh Bachchan’s love interest in the movie but after she rejected the role, the makers decided to remove the character from the movie.

The film received love and appreciation from the audience and critics alike. The songs of the film went on to become chartbusters. Needless to say, they are still popular.

Apart from the six newcomers, the film starred Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan, Shefali Shah, Saurabh Shukla and others in key roles.
